  1. Yes, the pound coin is still in use. However most of our other coins have changed- over the last 20 years our 5p, 10p, and 50p coins have become smaller, we have a 2 pound coin now, and no 1 pound note (except in Scotland). So if you have 5p, 10p or 50p, they won't be allowed, but £1s are fine.


  2. Yes.  And if shops won't take them, you can get new ones at any bank.  But, I've only heard of their paper money being outdated, not coins.

  3. Yes. The most common pound coin is still the one from its year of introduction, in 1983.
