Does low blood pressure affect the baby in any way?

I have low blood pressure, not scary low, but low enough to make me dizzy and need to rest often when doing things as simple as dishes. What are some ways to raise it naturally. I drink plenty of water, and eat mostly salty food anyways but I didn't know if there was anything else. I go to bed late and wake up late so I dont usually eat until about 10:30 or 11 in the morning and eat frequently all day until I go to bed around 1 or 2 in the morning. (My husband works 2nd shift.) I don't work as I have an anxiety disorder and my morning sickness kept me from working.. Is there something I may be doing wrong like having odd hours or eating, or eating wrong things? Like I said I eat frequently and my doctor is always proud of my weight when I go for my checkups. My BP is usually around 102/55 or so when I go to the dr's last time they did a check on me where they check it laying down, sitting up, and standing up and all changed drastically although my pulse stayed the same. Anyone else have this problem? It keeps me from doing many things because I'm scared if I start to do something I will pass out and land on my stomach and hurt my baby, I know a little overprotective and irrational but I can't help it, I want to do this right. Any ideas would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Oh! PS. I have been told that I have very slight anemia when I took the blood test at 12 weeks. I have also been told that the dizziness could be associated with low iron and anemia so I started taking the vitamins with extra iron in them. Thanks again!

  1. i am 23 weeks pregnant and feeling like you are.. keep inmind you have an anxiety disorder, so that can also caue some discomfort, relating to the dizziness you feel.. i also have genralized anxiety and panic disorder. so that along with the normal dizzness that some women can get, can be firghtening.  your blood pressure is exaclty what mine was on the  last appt i had.  you also have the same sleep and wake up routine as i do.  your drinking lots of water, so thats a plus. if your getting enough sleep regardless of what your sleep pattern is, then good.  i asked about my blood pressure and my doc told me it was fine.  better to be alittle low than high. the only thing i can say in all of this is stay away from the salty foods!!!! it can cause swelling and other problems. other than that, voice your concerns to your OB the next time you see him/her..

    good luck!!!

  2. I have the same thing, orthostatic hypotension is what my cardiologist calls it.  My BP dropped 30 points when i stood up and i didn't even feel dizzy, so mine prob drops like 40-50 points when i get dizzy.  I have also fainted a couple times.  He is looking into some medicine that could be safe while pregnant, but i haven't heard back yet.  I also have really bad PVCs (Premature ventricular contractions) all the time, which probally makes my situation a little dizzier lol
