If you send letters from Europe to Mexico (Playa del carmen, Puerto Vallarta and Mexico City) does the post arrive then? Because from some people ive heard that almost nothing arrives in Mexico! Is that true, or can i just send my letters? What would you suggest? And would you send it with or without priority?

Thank you!!!!

  1. It is very likely that if you send normal post it will not arrive. If you really want something to arrive use a major parcel company such as FedEx or UPS. It is illegal to send money or checks by mail or delivery service in Mexico so if you want to send money or a check don't even bother.

    Best of luck.

  2. Letters DO arrive here.

BUT, you must be sure about the adress, in rural areas there is not good mail service, so you should look for urban adresses; and also you should prefer the service from particulars than official, it means, it is better send anything with UPS, DHL, or any other service like that. That is what we (mexicans) do if we want to be sure the package or letter is going to arrive.

  3. I live in Mexico (Puerto Vallarta) and would not recommend even sending a post card.  I receive  Christmas cards in March.  I had 3 government checks stolen and forged.  The problem is lack of training and incentive.  The Mexican people are not big readers or writers, so it shows in the lazy regard for a service they, themselves, place little importance in.  I would recommend using Mailboxes Inc., or Fed-Ex, DHL.  I would by-pass the federal mail system because it just is not very efficient or secure. Gives a whole new meaning to "snail mail"!  Don't misunderstand me.  I love Mexico and the wonderful people.  They just don't "do" mail very well.  Funny thing, though, I always get my utility bills on time!

  4. They do get there, through the normal post it can take a very long time.  I send mail from New Orleans to Mexico City and it can take a month to get there.

The fastest way to get your letters to MX is FedEx with a tracking number.

  5. Yes, we do have mail service and people from other country can send us things. (sorry if it sounds rude, but you asked for it)

The bad part is that it may take MONTHS on regular mail, I said we have a system but I never said it was any good.
