I know we don't get mail on holidays but do they still transfer?

For example

I mail a letter thursday, it goes to the post office that night

friday the letter is transfered/mailed to the other city post office

saturday the letter is delivered.

Now lets say the friday is a holiday, does the mail still transfer or is it delayed a day?

  1. No, the Post Office is closed on Friday and all government employees (including those who work for the Post Office) have the day off. Everything will be delayed one day. You can choose next day service, however if you want to pay the additional fee. If you send it out on Thursday with next day service, it will be delivered on Saturday.

  2. Better for you to forget mail through Post Office.  Use email or sms facility. Otherwise go for Speed Post!

  3. I don't think so because then that would mean someone would have to be working, and since mail is government funded and its a holiday, no one would be working.
