or is it just me?he sounds like a whiny, jealous teenager in his response to not being invited to watch his record possible be broken. then he cant even give full credit to mr phelps. he says that he is "just like me".and that if given the chance, he could have won 8 golds too.

  1. a little bit. but i think he has earned the right to be a little bit upset.

  2. Maybe he doesn't need to be so vocal about what he could have done.

He should have been invited!! With such an incredible impact on the sport of swimming.  I'm sure there is an explanation, but for some one to hold a record for so long and not to be involved or invited????

  3. Are other athletes invited? Even if there's some invitation process for outstanding athletes from the past that has somehow passed him by, his pouting like a child and saying Phelps is just like him that's why he's so great really speaks of someone who is living in the past and can't stand not being in the spotlight. Not much grace there at all. Even before this, I heard him on a local sports radio show a few years ago, and he was one of the most self absorbed athletes ever interviewed. And there have been lots athletes on the show who've achieved greatness. The ego on him could stun a mastodon.
