Question:

Does marking your tennis balls w/ Permanent marker affect them adversely?

I wonder if the ink from a permanent marker might somehow make it break down faster.

Also, do they make stamps so I don't have to keep drawing things over and over on my balls.

  1. no, i dont think so..

  2. aren't you a doc? you must earn well. Yikes you gotta resort to such measures so that someone doesn't get your ball...oh dear dear!

  3. no, permanent marker doesn't do anything to a tennis ball, except make pretty pictures...lol

  4. no. i don't know about the stamps though.

  5. Lots of people mark their own balls to distinguish them and I have never heard of any problems from it. Ink has no way of damaging to ball.

  6. No, not at all.  I'm assuming that you are marking the balls so you don't confuse them with balls from another court.   If this is the case, I did a quick search on "tennis ball markers" and found this:  http://www.loudfrog.com/itemdetail.aspx?...

    Good luck.

  7. I don't think so. The only problem would be the marker ink running out.  Stamps might work too.

  8. No, sharpie doesn't affect how the ball plays.  At least I don't feel the difference and I don't feel the ball wears faster either.  You could try one of those office supply stamps and stamp ink on the ball.  Like one of those "Sign here", or "Approved" stamps from Staples :)

  9. You could get a cow branding iron!

Everyone marks there balls at the club I play at and it doesn't seem to cause any trouble.

  10. No!  Yes, I'm sure you can get a stamp made.  try a stationary store.

  11. Since tennis balls weigh only 2 ounces, the only problem ink would have is very minimal.  It might alter the trajectory of the ball's flight and the way it cuts through the air.  Just a thought.

    Other than that, no problem.
