are the original community member forced out/dispersed (white flight) as the new communities are set up?
I remember the street I grew up in the 1970s/80s, in a South Wales town - little terraced streets full of working class families who'd known each other most of their lives, all pulling together through the hard times. Many had lived through WWII together and had fond memories through the decades.
These days they are all gone, the area is high in crime and inhabited mainly by a mixture of peoples from asia and the middle east. Its very run down and crime is rife there. It makes me feel sad to see it like this.
I remember when the first asian families moved in and people did try to include them in the community but they didn't want to integrate with what they called "English" people (we're Welsh). So the community started breaking up around then.
Is this a good or bad aspect of immigration?
