  1. Starting with Einstein's famous equation: -

    E=mc²

    This equation states that a mass 'm' has an equivalent energy 'E'. The equivalence of mass and energy is exploited in accelerator rings such as the one found at CERN. The L(arge) H(adron) C(ollider) will soon be colliding counter rotating beams of protons in head on collisions at relativistic velocities. As the protons collide they will evaporate into a flash of pure energy, which will be double (two protons) the sum of their rest mass and motion mass energies' (from the above equation). This pure energy will then 'condense' into a shower of exotic 'elementary' particles. It is hoped that the Higg's boson will be discovered during these collision experiments!

    Hence, through the equivalence of mass and energy - particles of matter may change into other particles during very energetic collisions.

  2. when Uranium decays, part of its mass turns into energy (a -electron and a neutrino), energy can also be turn into matter.

  3. Via Einstein's E=mc^2

    matter can be converted to energy...
