Does mealworm consume albumin ?

Or is there any experiments that you've heard of that involved albumin and mealworms ?

  1.        Mealworms generally do not consume much if any albumin. I raise mine on a mix of very finely ground corn meal and quick oats. I put a piece of potato placed where get at it but in something like a plastic can lid so it doesn't touch the dry mix and get mold started.

            Mealworms are a favorite source of enzymes and hormones for research purposes. They are easy to grow, inexpensive, and you can plop a handful of them into a blender and then extract whatever enzyme you are interested in from the resulting goo.

             Albumin, particularly bovine serum albumen, is another favorite of researchers. It is plentiful and inexpensive, and works well as a medium for conducting research involving enzymes and hormones. The result is a lot of research that involves both mealworms and albumin, but I know of none involving feeding albumin to mealworms.
