  1. They try to ! There's always 2 sides to every story! the trick is to being able to read between the lines and see what is really being said!!

  2. Indeed they do for many of us, but NOT for me. Since I have moved, I've made no effort to get a TV hooked up, even though cable is very cheap here. From observing folks who have their TVs on 24/7-- from The View to Regis and Kelly--  I note that their horizons are not broadened, to put it mildly. Same of course with reading or scanning Soap Opera Digest, Oprah, Rachael Ray, etc. and nothing else. Garbage in, garbage out. no wonder so many people BELIEVE that Obama is 1. a Muslim 2. the Anti-Christ. Pretty pathetic!

  3. Only if we let it.

Sadly, there are more than enough people in this world who either don't want to think for themselves or think they can't.  In many cases (that I really don't want to get into here for fear of report monkeys), these people have allowed the media to tell them that they can't think for themselves.  "Go back to sleep, honey, let those of us that know what we're doing make it all better," and so on.

Regardless of political leanings, Democrat vs. Republican, liberal vs. conservative, there is a media answer for everything.  Those that watch or read the news are basically stuck picking who they agree with most, rather than who may be right.  There is no $$ in thinking for yourself, no political clout, so those that actually try to are left with no "corporate sponsors," which makes it virtually impossible to get any kind of coverage.  When those that do think for themselves amass enough $$ of their own to push themselves into the spotlight, at least for a few minutes, they are immediately decried as "rich people" who don't know what's really going on.  By who?  (drumroll please . . . ) THE MEDIA!!!  Surprise, surprise.

(wipes brow)  That was kinda fun, maybe a bit therapeutic.

--EDIT--  I think you scared some people off with that "D" word you threw in there.  You know, "debate"? (lol)

  4. The media does the thinking of a lot of people.  They believe everything they read or hear.

Does the media do my thinking.  NO.

They present little facts but hardly ever the whole truth.
