Does medicade cover eye exams and glasses?

i need my eyes checked and i'm sure i need glasses. i have medicade. is this even possible?

  1. Yes for all states. The only problem is that the frames that they cover are not the greatest but if you want to see better, see an Ophthalmologist.


  2. Yes. They'll cover basic glasses and an exam but they won't cover any upgrades to the frame and lenses, no contacts and it takes about 1 month to get the glasses back. Your best bet is paying out of pocket to get your glasses in sooner.

  3. Medicaid typically covers the exam and has specified the type of frame a person can get at the store. I know in Indiana they do not pay for anything extra like transitions or contacts, but it covers a pair of glasses as long as you are eligible and it has been over 1 year for those 18 and under and 2 years for those 18 and over.

  4. In some  states it does, depending on your age and if you are a student or not, stuff like that. In CA they do.
