  1. it helps you fall asleep yes, as long as you don't move around too much after taking it, or fight it at all...

It's one of the hormones your body releases to actually FALL asleep

  2. Try Nytol

  3. for my mom it helps, i can not say for myself since i haven't tried.

there is another herb she uses too that comes in capsules that work wonders for her, and decently well for me  (she made me try when i had problems) .... valerian root i believe it is :)

  4. The hormone melatonin (hereinafter referred to as 'mel') is now a popular therapy for jet-lag and disturbances of sleep. Claims are made for improved s*x-life, longevity and even lowering of blood pressure. Melatonin is not licensed for sale in pharmacies in the UK at the present time but can be bought over the counter in health food shops. Recent newspaper reports suggest that the Medicines Control Agency has written to the suppliers of the synthetic hormone to tell them that in future it will only be available on prescription. A survey of the medical literature reveals investigations are being done by many workers to determine the efficacy and side effects of the use of mel in a number of conditions. The main focus of attention is on sleep disturbances, seasonal affective disorder, neuroendocrine disorder and cancer therapy.

An overview of the literature is presented in order to show avenues of research into the use of melatonin.

It is not recommended that melatonin should be taken unless prescribed by a qualified medical practitioner and according to the Drug Enforcement laws of the country in which it is taken.

  5. melatonin helped me, I really don't use it lately but that's cause I started exercising. I can also recommend square breathing , this is how you do it: breath in till the count of 4, hold til the count of 4, breath out till the count of 4., hold for 4, repeat till your relaxed, and sleepy. this can put me to sleep when my mind is racing . melatonin works , but works best to keep me asleep. that breathing technique also helps with anxiety attacks.

  6. yes it does! It is what your body makes naturally that puts you to sleep. I take that. I also more recently tried using a product by Standard Process called Orchex. It has melatonin in it, but it works wonders, and it's all natural. You can buy it from most chiropractors that carry Standard Process.

  7. Yes, melatonin helps.

I've used it and had great sleep with it.Don't go any higher than 3 mg.

Valerian root also is said to help although I have not tried it yet.If you do decide to take Valerian root, be sure to not have an allergy to ragweed.
