  1. Yes it does.  The amount it actually expands and contracts varies depending on the temperture, the thinkness and the types of metal in question.

    I am sure other factors may apply.

  7. pretty much everything expands on heating.  there are a few exceptions.  The ice to water phase transition is probably the best known exception to the rule.

  8. it expands, because the thermal energy basically makes the atoms move more & faster, and since they need more room the metal expands. unless you heat it up too much, and then it just melts.
