  1. No. A mocha is a latte with chocolate in it.  (A latte is espresso with steamed milk and a small amount of foam on top)

    A macchiato is

"Shot of espresso with a dash of hot or cold milk and dressed with a dollop of foam. "

It has also been defined as:

"Espresso with about one or two teaspoons of COLD milk which are gently poured down at the side of the glass and the milk will seen to sink to the bottom of the glass."

If you're asking more specifically about Starbuck's "Caramel Macchiato," that is much different.  A Caramel Macchiato is Steamed milk + foam and vanilla syrup added first, then espresso added to the top, with caramel drizzled on top.  I have also observed them put caramel drizzled along the bottom and sides of the cup before even adding the milk, when making an iced caramel macchiato.

  2. no, mocha means chocolate added.
