Does modern society really accept overweight people?

Sometimes I read news on http://bbwhub.com , which is about some discrimination on bbw, overweight people, such as overcharge them on the plane, ban them from some restaurants, and difficulties in finding a job. Does our society really accept overweight people?

 Modern society is not at all friendly towards overweight people because society has this feeling that individuals have the power to keep a firm control over  their weight and those individuals who choose not to restrict and deny themselves, lack will power and are therefore irresponsible and morally inferior. Also, overweight people feel guilty and shameful and sometimes feel as if they deserve scrutiny. Like, if they had cancer, we would be sympathetic. But since they choose to overeat, we judge them harshly.
