Does modernisation equate to technological advancement?

I understand the term modernisation but am unsure of the fact whether the terms modernisation and technological advancement can be used interchangeably. Do they imply the same thing?

  1. Modernisation, or modernity, is a term that describes the phenomenon of being modern. This is a huge theoretical area. Technological advancement can be linked to the modern world but can equally be linked to any historic age or culture that is at a different technological stage from our own.
