  1. Yes. Scientific studies have shown that louder, faster music will subconsciously cause you to drive faster.

  2. The beat of the music is supposed to mimic the beating rhythm of the heart, so the faster the music the faster your heart beats and conversely so with slower music.

"Listening to music can influence your heart rate and how fast you breathe - especially if you're a trained musician, a new study indicates.

The study by British and Italian researchers, which will appear in the journal Heart, shows that listening to music with a slow or meditative tempo has a relaxing effect on people, slowing breathing and heart rate.

Listening to faster music with a more upbeat tempo has the opposite effect - speeding up respiration and heart rate."

  3. Since the realization that aggressive music may influence driving, there have been a variety of studies conducted to prove or disprove this theory. When some individuals were asked about music and their driving habits, some said that heavy metal music and other aggressive forms of music didn't alter the way they operated their motor vehicle because they said the music relaxed them.

However, there have been others who have been asked how music influences their driving and they will tell you that their attention to the road and traffic decreases.

Another factor is the tempo of the music. Listen to a piece of classical music and you might drive like it's Sunday, but listen to something with pounding bass riffs and squealing guitars and you're going to be squealing down the street. However, music tempo can be used to the advantage of the driver if the driver is one who has a propensity to drive according to the tempo. Change the station to something slower to calm yourself down.

  4. thats so funny. Of course you wnna give the car a bit of stick . when you got music on , just listen to the radio . SOLVED!

  5. its true/  i listen to everything and on sunday i listen to the christian music station and i drive like a old grandpa on sundays but during the week when i listen to my favorites i speed.

  6. I like to listen to the quiet when I drive..............

  7. umm, all i know is that when im listening to something fast paced or something heavy metal/rockish... something loud, and screamy, it makes me want to drive really fast...

on the opposite note, listening to something like talk radio makes me drive slower and calmer... i dont know why, but it seems like music greatly affects the way people drive
