Question:

Does music make you smarter?

I play classical guitar and flute as well as piano, I wonder if listening or playing a very DIVERSE amount of DIFFERENT styles of music is better than sticking to one style that is INTENSELY mathematical and abstract in form like BACH or BARRIOS or DEBUSSY. Perspectives on my dis-jointed question? Thanks!

  1. I wouldn't fully say that it makes you smarter, but I think, that it can make you feel calmer, relaxed, or even put you at ease, putting me at ease, can make me concentrate better, concentrating better, give me better attention span, better attention span helps me to work better, and me working better, gets be better results, getting better results, makes me fell better, so from that point of view, it could make me even smarter. Also when listening to music, somehow get my work done better, and even faster, (sometimes / most-times not even realizing it), that i've done more and even bette work then I normally do...
