yes! by all means example Italian food=some Tony Bennett or Dean Martin-Japenese some Japenese music etc. Why do you think that restaurants usually do this,because it's relaxing and lightens your mood for the occasion.

Not for me, although I love music when we're alone together I like it quiet so that we only hear each other.

Music can help and change a person's mood, it doens't work and change for everyone, but it can help. It does seem to add to the moment a little bit.
