Question:

Does my 120v battery charger needs a converter to work in France?

It is a Ni-MH Battery Charger.

My digital camera takes AA batteries and I may need to recharge them in France.

France has a 240V current, and my charger says on the back:

INPUT: 120V ~ 60Hz 6W

Which means I need a converter to reduce the current from 240V to 120V, right?

Extra question: How many watts does the charger use? 6? Because it says 6W next to the Hz.

Thanks!

  1. Yes, I just got a converter for europe at fry's

  2. It's not just a good idea, it's a must. You will fry your charger if you plug it in, in France. You are absolutely right about the wattage, which means you can use a small travel converter instead of a larger one you might need for high wattage appliances. You can buy a small travel converter/adaptor kit at any luggage or travel store, and department stores. You can avoid the expense by just bringing or buying batteries in France, but I bet you already knew that. Have a good trip.

  3. I'm traveling too this summer and I was wondering about this for my charger. If your charger doesn't say INPUT 120v-240v it is probably a good idea to get a converter. If it does than just get the three dollar plug converter for Europe.
