Does my 14 yr old daughter need ID to travel from Eire to UK by Irish Ferries?

  1. Yes, everyone needs some form of official ID.  It is to safeguard everyone.

  3. If she has ID then it's best to take it just in case, but in all likelyhood she won't be asked for it as long as she is accompanied with an adult.

  4. Nope, Irish Ferries have never asked me for ID, EVER, and I sail with them (Dublin-Holyhead) a few times every year.

    Going to Wales, you virtually never get stopped, on the way back you often get asked by immigration what your nationality is, but I have never been asked for ID by them.

    Legally, assuming you are Irish or British, then you can avail of the 'Common Travel Area' arrangements that mean you don't need passports.

    I would, however, take some ID if you have it just incase.
