Question:

Does my A/C need to be recharged?

I recently bought a 1987 Dodge Ram Van and air blows out when I turn the A/C on, but it does not get cold. What is the possibility of the freon needing to be recharged, or could it be a different problem?

  1. Highly likely that the freon needs recharging..

Take it to a shop , have them check it out and look for leaks, before they recharge....

  2. you got to try to recharge the A/C but if it does not work chek all the fuses  cause sometimes you cant recharge the A/C if the compressor doesnt work, but once you make it work by replacing the fuses then you can recharge it.

  3. Get a charge kit from an auto parts store and do it yourself. Follow the directions on the kit. Make sure you only connect it to the low pressure side. That would be the larger diameter tube or hose. The smaller one is the high pressure side and is dangerous to tamper with, especially while attempting to charge it there.

If it doesn`t hold a charge, take it to a shop for them to leak test it and have it repaired.

  4. is the blower/fan blowing , if yes and no cold air the system could be low on gas, specialist job un-fortunately.

  5. take it to a shop and get them to test it
