  1. Yes it will....

Blu Ray is just the new standard to replace DVD and in theory will work with any TV (includeing SDTV) Blu Ray's maximum resolution is 1080p and will adapt to any resolution.

The real question is what brand to go with if your Panasonic Viera? I would recomend the Panasonic Blu Ray with the Viera Link.... This system will give you seemless technology.

  2. You need a 1080p TV.

    A blue ray disk player

A digital cable, HDMI or DVI-I with HDCP.

A DVD player will never play bluray....

  3. yes it support it

  4. Consider carefully before opting for Blu-ray. The future is unclear and it's not at all certain Blu-ray will ever be more than what it is now ... a high priced HD alternative to DVD.

First, you need a dedicated player (currently $300+) ... you can't use a DVD player.

Second, disks are -- according to a recent survey -- an average of $11 MORE expensive than for the same movie on DVD.  There are some deals, and prices will eventually come down to (probably) about $5 more ... but they will always be more expensive.

Third, to fully benefit from Blu-ray you need a ~40" or more 1080p HDTV and a good surround sound system capable of playing the advanced codecs (Blu-ray has improved sound over DVD). You can CONNECT to any TV (including yours), but you may get limited improvement over DVD.

Fourth, up-converting DVD players will give a pseudo-HD picture that on a 720p HDTV (particularly under 40") will come fairly close to Blu-ray ... and costs MUCH less. Many consumers have no interest in upgrading to Blu-ray simply because up-converted DVD is good enough.  You may be really fussy and decide you want the best but, at least until/if the prices come down, you will pay a lot for the improvement.

Finally, there are still relatively few Blu-ray movies (under 700, vs 84,000 DVD movies) and while some are amazing video and sound quality (if you have the equipment to benefit), many are not that much of an improvement on DVD.

Bottom line -- if you are interested in Blu-ray get a demo on a TV similar to yours before buying, and unless you must have now, wait for the end of the year when prices are expected to be significantly lower.

Personally, I've tried HD disks and am in no hurry to buy Blu-ray ... and I use a 110" screen and HD projector.

  5. yes u can play it in ur plasma(1080p)

u need a bluray player...but it hasent even launched in india..

i guess soon and the bloody thing is costing around 25 grands..

way too costly since the technology is just introduced

  6. iTS NOT A QUESTION OF SUPPORT. blue ray will play on a lot of TVs, its just how it looks when it plays. depending on which viera (its just what panasonic calls a plasma, there are tonnes of different models), to have for blue ray experience you need something that can support 1080p.

NO DVD player can support blue ray, because DVD is one type of FORMAT and blueray is another. it like saying can i play play a video tape in a dvd player. you need a blu ray player. they may look excatly lke a DVD but its not.
