Does my XBOX Live membership cover my whole xbox system or just the gamertag it was applied to?

I added a one year subscription to my xbox gamertag, and my brother also has a gamertag on the xbox. But now the free trial has run out and i applied the subscription, it only works if i want to play online and not my brothers? Does he have to take out his own xbox live subscription. Thanks xxxx

It covers only the gamertag you applied it to. If your brother wants an XBOX Live subscription he has to buy one and apply it to his profile (gamertag)

But you can transfer your gamertag from one box to another if you like.Many games, such as Halo, will still allow you to bring guests online with you.

It only applies to your gamertag. He needs his own gold subscription on his gt to play online.
