  1. It depends, what temperature is it in your house? If it is 75F or above then no you do not need a heater. If your house is cooler, the hydro mini aquarium heater is a good 7.5 watt heater. I am pretty sure you can order it off the pet co website.

  2. no it will be fine in a bowl. don't put it with any other fish or else the beta will attack the other fish. they are also known as fighting fish

  3. If you want him to be happy and active, yes.

If you want to torture him slowly until his death, no.

  4. If you cannot maintain a steady tankwater temperature of at least 76*F, then yes, you need a heater.  Bettas are tropical fish and do best between 76*F - 82*F (80*F ideally).

  5. Yes, in order to keep a constant temperature of around 78F you need a heater.

Without a heater, bettas become lazy and out of it. They also can get sick much easier and will not live as long.

I wouldn't try to heat anything less than 2.5 gallons or you could cook your fish. (2.5 is the minimum for a happy betta anyway) I keep mine in 5 gallons with a heater and filter.

The hydro mini heater from petco works fine.

    Good luck!

  6. It could be in a bowl. They don't need a tank , filter or heaters. They will do fine in a goldfish bowl or smthin...
