Does my cable modem convert my phone conversations into a digital signal?

I subscribe to the local cable co. for telephone,internet and video services all through the cable system. My internet and telephone connect through thier modem with my phone connection being one of standard phone jack.

    It's converted by your computer before it gets to the modem!

  3. Ok, you have an eMTA. That is a device that will support both High Speed Internet and Digital Phone. The signal does run thru the cable line, but is split into different frequencies. It also converts the signal to analog if the phone doesn't support a digital signal
