Question:

Does my cartilage piercing sound okay?

I had my ear cartilage pierced with my friend at 'Under the skin' in Aldershot 5 days ago now. When it was pierced it felt fine, no pain! About half an hour later, I began to feel faint and threw up 2 times. I'm guessing that this is normal? Anyway, the first 4 days with it in, there was still no pain but today it's been hurting so much! It's red, it's swollen, it's hot and it throbs. My friend had to even go to the doctors and have her's taken out because it hurt so bad! My mum and sister have it done and it's taken their's 2 whole years to heal up so I know the healing time. I'm just asking to see if this is normal because it's really hurting me, thanks.

  1. no thats definitely not normal; my friend pierced my cartilage

during lunch at school and she only pierced it with the earring and

nothing else. now that same day this other girl was piercing

this girl's cartilage and two days latter or so the school starting

talking about how she started to throw up and started to get

really bad side effects. some what likes yours; she had to go

to the doctor and take it off. so i would say take it off as soon

as possible; you shouldn't let a piercing that is infected heal.

just take it off and either do it again on your other ear or wait

for cartilage to heal all the way and pierce it again.

  2. Everyone reacts differently to piercings,

    i wouldnt worry.

just keep it clean and make sure you dont catch it too many times,

    all piercings hurt at first,

ive had my nose, lip and two ear piercings before and they all hurt for about a week so dont worry :)

if ure ear starts to form a big lump then go back to your piercer and ask there :)

  3. fainting and vomitting is not normal if caused by the piercing...That sounds weird that it has just begin to swell up...Have a doctor check it out if it hurts that bad...I got mine pierced like a month ago and it onlt hurt for like 30 seconds when getting it done then the first few times i slept on it.  So yeah just get it checked by a doctor.

  4. Those are usually the side effects if you got it done with a gun. Puking isn't normal. I recommend going to a doctor because you could also be having an allergic reaction to the type of jewelry (hense the puking). Did you get it done with a gun? If you did, it means you're at risk for huge infection, hepatitis C and other blood related diseases.

Soak it with a sea salt and it should soothe the hotness and it shouldn't throb as much. (1/8-1/4 tsp non-iodized sea salt dissolved in 8 oz distilled or bottled water.)
