Question:

Does my cat have a disease of the mouth?

My cat is 13 years old, and recently I noticed that she has been sticking her tongue out just a little bit, but constantly. The fur on her bottom lip area seems to be wet (I don't know if I should be touching it so I'm not) and it looks to be browner that usual. I don't know if that is the fluid coming from her mouth? I know I need to take her to the vet but any ideas on what it could be??

Thanks for your responses

  1. does your cat costantly groom herself, usually cast who do that make the bottom of the mouth bald or swell up from the excessive grooming,if this is the case check that she hasnt flea,or another possibility is she has teething problems and the grooming takes her mind of the teeth problems

  2. She could have periodontal disease and drooling. Excessive panting is not a good sign and your best move is to really have her checked out. Gum disease could developed into something more serious and cause her to loose all her teeth.
