Does my cat have a tick

Question

my cat has a little grey blob about the size of half a grain of rice on his ear and its slightly pinky in the middle is it a tick? and wat do i do about it?

It sounds like a tick. My Vet advises applying surgical spirit to make tick open it's jaws before pulling the whole thing off with tweezers. If you leave the head behind accidentally the Vet will need to remove it.

that is a tick get to to the vets.  if you're in britain take it to a pdsa clinic they should sort it for free.

well if it is a tick u take a twiser and u pull it off just like that and then flush it down the toilet or burn it

yes it's a tick, you need to remove it asap but you need a special tool to do it.if you just yank it off you may leave the head embedded in the cats skin and that can cause infection. go to your local pet shop, they will have a tick remover

Firstly the tick will not grow another body!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you see legs its a tick. If you pull it  and dont get the head, do not dig to get the head out as this will just cause more tissue trauma.  Leave it alone. It will die. Try to not mess with it too much before you pull it or it will anchor in and you'll surley leave the head behind. put the bug on a piece of tape and fold over creating a pocket it cannot get out of and flush it down the commode.

If you dont see legs,  it could be a sweat gland cyst they are blackish and do tend to pop up in the ears if you inspect into the ear you may find more.

If you're not sure smother it in Vaseline, if it is a tick it will die and drop off. If it wasn't a tick you could make it worse trying to pick it off. (does sound like a tick though, even if you cant see the legs)

Does sound like a tick..........you need to take it out. Easier said but tweezers may help! Try and remove all of it as if you just pull the body part off, the head remains and the tick will continue to suck the blood and just grow another body. Sounds gross, but true! Alternatively go to the vet but this can be pricey. Hope you get it sorted!

Yes!! Its a tick.

Either take the cat to the vets or use an approved tic remover available at vets or your local pet shop. If your not sure take it to the vet!!

Be careful once you have removed the tic they carry a variety of diseases which can affect humans!

Best way to dispose of it is to put it in a cup ( or similar  recepticle ) of surgical spirit. Keep it there for at least 24 hours.

DO NOT try to burn it off. DO NOT try to pinch it off with your fingers.

Please check the rest of your cat thoroughly for any more for the next couple of weeks.

ticks are black with like light light yellow but like a popcorn color arrow on them its like two arrows...but they are much bigger then what youve explained just try to pull it off but if the cat gets sqweemish then stopp

Does the blob have legs?  If so, it is a tick; Moisten a cotton ball with shampoo, and hold it against the tick -  within a minute, the tick will pull itself out of the skin, and you can flush it down the toilet. Thoroughly remove any shampoo from the cat.  Begin treating your cat with Revolution (get it from the vet) to prevent flea/tick/heartworm infestations.

If the blob doesn't have legs, it is a skin growth - don't pull it off!  Take the cat to the vet and let her evaluate the growth.

If it is a tick it will get bigger as it engourges on the cats blood. It will be smoothy grey and you can't really see the legs or head as they are buried in the skin. DONT pull it out as the head can get left behind and it will get infected. I suggest that you get to the vet on MOnday and they have a spray that you put on and it kills the tick after about 48 hours. AND if it is the proper vets one they fall off dead! HUrray so you won't have them lying about the house!
