Okay my cat was recently pregnant or still is or never was(vet appt is soon then making appt to get her fixed!) now she has this white like mucus looking stuff coming from the top hole under her tail(sorry terrible at feline anatomy). What is this? Should I be worried? Is it discharge? Oh and she also got out(she's an indoor cat) for a few days before we got her back in so she could've had her kittens out there. Could the stuff be from an infection? What do I do?

  1. The top hole closer to the tail - the one that's usually pinkish and puckered is the butt. If there's mucus coming from there, it could be a problem with parasites such as worms. Or, it may really be coming from the other hole which could signify that she is starting to go into labor. If it's labor, usually you will notice her nipples start to stick out when her milk comes in, and she may get restless or start looking for good places to give birth. I would watch her closely for a few hours and if it looks like labor, give her some space - she should know what she's doing. If nothing happens by morning you may want to take her to a vet, or at least call them and run the situation past them.

Also, if she really did have kittens while she was outside, she would probably be very anxious to get back outside to them. She also would probably have a lot of milk, and be eating a little more than normal to regain her strength. If you don't notice this, it's likely one of the situations above.

  2. It could well be an infection, but you can NOT get a proper diagnosis on the internet, you need to take your cat to the vet as soon as you possibly can.  Trying to diagnose a problem here is like reading a book to see how to do a surgery.
