  1. most cats have fleas even with flea collars as they go out side, you will see small black bits in his coat if you part around his ears or back thats flea poo, just use good flea killer but read the back as ou have to use certain amount on differant sizes.

  2. The cat may or may not have fleas. If you get a thin comb and run it along the back, and notice brown specks, that is a great indication your cat has fleas. Also if you take the specks and put them on a white paper towel, drop a little water on it, if it turns red you for sure have fleas. This would be dried blood. I would just give the cats a quick bath in a bit of dawn (rinse well) wash all of your bedding, spray something to get rid of fleas all over your house (make sure it's safe for you and your kitties) and vacuum EVERYTHING! also make sure when you come in from outside, you leave your shoes at the door, they will also track in larvae eggs from the fleas. Once you break the cycle, make sure you keep up with the flea medication.

  3. Check your cats fur for little bugs. A vet can give you a good flea shampoo to use.

  4. Look through his fur for little bugs crawling around. If there are little bugs then yes your cat has fleas. If there are no bugs then take him to the vet because he may have a skin condition that is causing his skin to itch and the vet will help you treat that.

  5. try combing him. there are cat combs in stores, but if you don't have one just use one of your thinnest combs, although it will need to be washed after ward. get paper towels to put fleas on if you find them, and it also helps if to soapy up the comb, because soap kills fleas. just comb all over a few times, especially on the head and tail, mostly back of tail.   search through the fur for little black specs, and if you find it, this is flea dropping, which is some of the blood they got.  these specs aren't always there, it might mean there are little fleas, or that they only recently came and there are few or no droppings on your cat. even if your cat shows no signs of fleas, put flea stuff over the house, and you should probably find a safe kind, because some flea powders, when breathed, can seem choking and uncomfortable.  spray your cat with flea stuff, and get stuff that is long lasting if your cat go's outdoors frequently, or is near other animals that might have fleas. if your cat has a lot of fleas, either give them a bath, (with flea soap if you have it but if you don't, any soap chokes them) or, if you don't want to or if your cat is dangerous in bathes, get pet bath wipes, which the pets don't like, but are quick, self drying, and can be lathered up easily, killing the fleas. if you let it go, this may become an infestment soon, so be quick! and fleas can go on hard surfaces but it isnt likely. and, so that you know, though i dont want to scare you, my dad once told me he knew someone whos cat had died from fleas. not from desiese, but because the cat was overly sanitary and cleaned herself a lot. she had a lot of fleas, and when she licked, and ended up swallowing them, they didnt die, and infested her kidney, and she died

  6. look though the fur and if you see something that looks like dirt... that is flea p**p. so YES your cat has fleas.

Here is help for your house

IF YOUR HOUSE / cat HAS FLEAS….

I have a NATURAL remedy for getting rid of fleas in your house.

Go to the Store and buy some 20 Mule Team BORAX.

Then sprinkle it all over. Carpets, couch, bedding, pillows, pet beds, car, even wood floors. (NOT ON YOUR PET!)

    THEN VACCUME IT UP.

What Boax does is coats the eggs ... The eggs hatch deformed or unable to reproduce.

You will have to do this 2 or 3x about a week apart in order to get all the egg cycles.

FOR YOUR PET. Use the flea killer that is on the market or use a flea comb (this is also a head lice comb) especially for kittens or puppys who are too young to have insecticide put on them.

Kill the fleas that you find on the comb with soap or alcohol
