Question:

Does my cat need to be spayed?

Well my cat is about 10 months old and has not gone into heat yet.

On average, a cat goes into heat at 6-7 months old.

My cat also shows no interest in going outside. In fact, she's terrified when I cat her out and tries to run back in the house.

Does she need to be spayed? And will she go in heat?

  1. I'm a big believer in havnig your pets neutered, mainly because of the over population of pets. Whether your cat shows interest in going outside or not shouldn't matter - there's always that possibilty that they could get out. Most cats do go into heat around 6 months, but not all. It can happen between 4 and 10 months of age (so your cat might go into heat any day now). Besides, it's best to have them spayed before their first heat cycle. Some pros to having a cat spayed - their chances of developing breast cancer is lowered and uterine infections and ovarian cysts will no longer be a concern, so your cat will be healthier. Also, cats that are spayed tend to be calmer and more affectionate. If I were you, I'd be on the phone with my vet to have her spayed in the near future.

  2. you can if you wont but it should only be if shes around boy cats and you dont wont kittens yeah she'll go into heat and start meowing and rubbing aginst stuff but it doesnt last forever i mean if you spayed her she'll be more lazy than energetic

  3. Yes, she does need to be spayed. It only takes one time for her to get outside and then you have a litter of kittens.

Our house cat got out and got prego. It costs us over $600 to have her and her kittens spayed. I felt responsible to have the kittens fixed so that it wouldn't happen again.

    Good luck!

  4. Unless you plan to breed a cat, then it should be spayed or neutered.

  5. cats can go in heat at different ages and yes

  6. Some pets develop at different times, just as not all humans start puberty at the same time. You should be sure you get your cat fixed ASAP. Not only will it help stop another contribution to pet over population, you won't have to worry about her having cancer, infection, etc. in her reproductive organs.
