My best friend (who lives in a different state now) is already dealing with depression.

I know he drinks and parties at least once every week.

Today he said that he always feels sad and miserable after drinking

a night of drinking.

Should I really be this worried about him?

He's 18 and going into college, I'm just 16 and I have already

dealt with a problem like this. I'm just not sure if he is having

the same trouble or if I am looking too closely...

help, please?

  1. All you can really do is be available for him to talk to.  It does sound as though if he doesn't already have a drinking problem he may have one real soon.

Unfortunately, you really can't do anything to help him.  He has to decide he wants help for himself.

Depression is a terrible illness, and one of the major symptoms is that people feel they can't be helped.

Like I said all you can really do is be there for him if he decides he needs help.

  2. well if he is dealing with depression you need to be careful becuase he may use the drinking as a way to deal with it

  3. Maybe not, but he is on the right path for it. Try and help him before he starts to do other drugs.
