I am asking this for a friend, he would like to find out if he has a leg to stand on when coming to adopt his x girlfriends child, he is not the biological father, But his x is already taking the biological father to court for child support, I dont think he has but I thought I would ask anyway

  1. unfortunately unless he adopted her he has no parental rights over her. sorry.

  2. Ummmm..... no.

  3. If he spent alot of time with her, he would have to prove that it is in the best interest of the child, if he can do that then yes he has a leg to stand on. So basically he needs to prove he and the child have a bond

  4. no if he is not with the childs mother anymore hes not got a chance unless the childs mother agrees that is what she wants

  5. He would have to present a very strong case that neither of the biological parents want the child or are suited to parent the child.  He would then have to prove that other relatives who may want the child are not fit.  He would have to prove that there is a strong bond between him and the child and that he is suited to be a parent.

Even then the court may decide against him.
