Does my friend need to hear the truth?

I've been best friends with 2 girls from my swim club for 3 years now, and we've always stuck together. One of them, Steph, doesn't come all the time, so it's often just me and my other best friend Claire. Recently, she's been "flirting" with a guy in our lane and when she's with him, she just completely ignores me. Before we'd have private conversations in the showers but now she's just laughing at all his jokes and blanks me. She never leaves the showers with me anymore, but stays in the showers as long as that guy does. I have no problem with her having other "friends", I'm not clingy at all, but I just feel sorta left out. My other friend Steph notices it too. Should we say something or not?

  1. Have you considered the fact that she may be trying to keep her new guy away from you in case he likes you better. She may know that you have a nicer personality and that he may see it and dump her for you.Take her to one side and tell her that you are missing her friendship and that you girls should get together from time to time without the new guy. That way she will feel her guy is safely hers and you have no interest in him and you will be reassuring her that you are valuing her as a friend. If she goes for it,don't be first to bring him into the conversation and only ask a couple of simple questions before changing to a more girly subject.

  2. I would say, only half jokingly, 'Hey, have you forgotten we exist or something?' Just to make her aware of what she is doing.

  3. defo tell her what she needa to know

  4. I agree with Haven - same thing has happened to me before. She'll come running back when it all goes t*ts up.

  5. Get used to it I'm afraid it's one of those things women tend to do when they meet a guy. They always forget about their friends until it all goes wrong. Sure it's rude and she'd probably not even fully realise what she is doing. Try telling her but don't hold your breath for a big change.
