It's all a matter of personal preference.  I prefer a smooth-chested man myself, but I see a lot of personal ads looking for men who are hairy.

Perhaps he likes the bear look.  Maybe he'd consider trimming it.  Some chests are not made to be shaved - they look really odd shaved.  It's up to him, not us.
