Hi there,

I've just purchased a small round goldfish tank for my daughter.

This is the pump/filter kit i have also purchased...

My question is does the uplift tube need to be completely submerged or does it not matter

Currently I have the water level equal with the top of the pipe and am unsure if this is correct.

Thanks for your help...

  1. please tell me you're not keeping goldfish in it...

I don't know why they label bowls and small tank as for goldfish, but you have just bought a death trap. goldfish get huge (either between 8" to 10" or over 18" depending on the type) and need a bare minimum of 10g each with a super strong filter.

if you've bought goldfish I recommend taking it(or them) back and purchasing something more suitable for a small tank, like a betta if it's at least 2.5g so it can have a heater or some shrimp if it's smaller. or, get a larger tank.... otherwise you're sentencing your fish to death, which I'm sure will upset your daughter.

  2. only the bubble stone has to be submerged [the little blue thing that the bubbles come out of] but part of the tubing can go in the water also. just don't put the box shaped peice in or above the water.
