Just wondering because its been almost 15 years since i graduated from high school. Lately ive been thinking of going back to further my education, and i could use the special assistance with the accuplacer test.

  1. Your transcripts will not show that you were identified with a learning disability.  It is true that if you took special education classes that that can be determined from your transcripts, but that will not be enough to get you any accommodations.  Your best bet would be to contact the special education administration office to find out if they still have your file.

  2. If you were in any L. D. classes, it probably does.  But you can request a copy of your transcripts from your school and look at them yourself.  You'll have to get another transcript and keep it sealed for the school your thinking of getting into.

  3. As long as you have a verifiable diagnosis, you should be able to go to the college's Disability and Educational Support Program and receive services. A report or note from your doctor should be enough. If you don't have something like that, you can still go to the DESP office and explain your situation. There is testing they can give you to verify your learning differences and with that they should be able to help you get accommodations for the accuplacer test. Hope this helps.
