Does my jet ski have to be in the water just to start it?

i really want to have a jet ski and im going to fix one and it is old but it kinda starts but not really i was just wondering if it needs to be in the water to start plllleeeeaaaasssseeee hhhheeeellllppppp!!!!

  1. yes it does, you know the stream of water that come out the back when it is in the water, well that is keeping the engine cool. if its not in the water the motor will seiz.

    that = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ new motor!


  2. to answer your question...no it does not need to be in the water to START

    if it indeed is left running for too long out of the water, the engine cannot cool down which then results in problems

    but starting out of the water is not a problem, just dont allow the ski to run for longer than 15-20 seconds at a time

  3. Yeah it will ruin the jet-ski if you start it out of water.
