Does my parnter need a Visa to go to USA?

My partner has had 2 criminal convictions, one being theft and the other a drink driving ban, l heard he may need a visa to go to USA which we are planning to do in December, some people are telling us he definately does, and some say he doesnt, please plase please if someone would, can you put us right, l would really appreciate this. And if there are any links/numbers for us to ring as we seem to be getting nowhere fast.

    Andorra Australia Austria Belgium Brunei Denmark Finland France Germany Iceland Ireland Italy Japan Liechtenstein Luxembourg Monaco the Netherlands New Zealand Norway Portugal San Marino Singapore Slovenia Spain Sweden Switzerland United Kingdom

    plans to stay in the US for less than ninety days, and has a machine-readable passport valid for at least six months past his last expected day in the US; then, no, he does not need a visa.
