Question:

Does my sister get a stimulus check?

My parents filed their 2007 taxes and my sister worked last year into this year. My sister is 17 almost 18 next month. It says that since she was born before December 10, 1990 she doesn't receive the child tax stimulus. Does that mean she gets the adult stimulus but in a seperate check? She paid her taxes and got $20.00 back from 2007. Any help would be appreciated.

  1. Depends on how much income she earned - I think she had to have made 3000 in taxable income to be eligible for the stimulus (and I think that's the 300 level) there's a lot of info on the IRS website - IRS.gov.... you might want to look on their FAQ page.

But to make a long story short since she is too old to be claimed by your parents if she made adequate income in 2007 then she should be eligible for a stimulus payment of her own.

  2. probably not.

  3. Dependents will not get the rebate. Your parents will not get extra for you as you are over 16 in 2007. You may get rebate when you file your 2008 tax return.

From IRS: If you do not receive full amount of $600 now, then you may get the balance amount when you file your 2008 return, and you become eligible for the tax rebate.
