Question:

Does my stepmother's E.U. citizenship give me any advantage in getting a job in an E.U. country?

I'm a U.S. citizen and a recent college graduate. I'd like to work in Europe. From what I understand, it's quite difficult to find employment without being a European Union citizen, since EU residents can work in any EU country without restriction.

About ten years ago my father got re-married, and his wife is from Europe. She now holds dual-citizenship. Is there any way that this could possibly help me as far as working in Europe, or emigrating there in general? I can't see how exactly, but I figured it's worth looking into.

Thanks much!

  1. No it can't. One of your birth parents has to be from an EU country for you to be elligible for an EU country's citizenship. A step mother won't count as anything sorry.
