Does my wife who has a philippine passport & i am a u.s. citizen stationed in japan need a visa to stay with me while im stationed there?

  2. Yes, she would fall under SOFA and have some sort of spouse visa. I'm not sure the proper terms for these because I don't have personal experience with it but lived in Japan around the military and there were many there with their wives and kids. The spouse visa lets her stay there with you but I believe part of it is registering with the local government. It's not a work visa except if you teach English, I believe. You really should check with the proper authorities on the matter to get all the legal facts.
