Does my work server capture what I write in an email?

This isn't a legal question.... more of a techincal one.

I'm curious if my employer has the ability to read my web based Hotmail's that I sent and receive from work. Everything we do on the internet goes through his servers first. I'm wondering if the text of my email is somehow saved on the server.

  1. Most likely.  Any email sent or received at work belong to the employer so they have right to look at if they want to.  Most are saved for years.
