Does not renewing your credit card after it expires THE SAME as canceling it?

I ask because I know canceling credit card hurts your credit scores. And I don't want that, I always pay everything in full.

No.  You have to actually cancel your credit card.  Some times you have to write a letter or just call them.

Your credit cards renew automatically, but cancelling your card also keeps it from being used by unauthorized persons.

Why don't you pay for everything with your credit card, and pay off your card when your statement comes, that would actually help your credit score.

I think you meant, if you don't activate your new card are you automatically cancelled? No. You're still a member until you cancel.
