Does one (1) company make the "eye" for blue-ray dvd players?

my brother was telling me that there was 1 exclusive company that was going to make the "eye" that reads the disk in blue-ray dvds. if this is true anyone know what that company is?

The BluRay DVDs are read by a laser beam. I seriously doubt that only one company will make it and even if they did it wouldn't make a blip in a large companies bottom line.

The real money in BluRay is the guys that are charging $35 for a disk that they can produce for less then a dollar.
