  1. No it doesn't, one engine of an A340-500/600 has between 53,000-56,000 lbs of thrust while one engine for the A330-200/300 has between 67,500-71,100 lbs of thrust. But earlier models of the A340, the -200/300, had engines with 34,000lbs, so one engine of an A330 has more power than two engines of an A340-200/300 but not the -500/600.

  2. Depending on the models, yes.

  3. Depends on which models you are comparing. For the A330-200 vs A340-200/300 yes. For the larger "newer" versions of the aircraft, no:

    A330-200 - Choice of two 300.3kN (67,500lb thrust each) General Electric CF6-80E1A2s, 286.7kN (64,000lb thrust each) Pratt & Whitney PW-4164s, or PW-4168s or 302.5kN (68,000lb thrust each) RollsRoyce Trent 768 or Trent 772 turbofans.

    A330-300 - Choice of two 300.3kN (67,500lb thrust each) General Electric CF6-80E1A2s, 284.7kN (64,000lb thrust each) Pratt & Whitney PW-4164s, or PW-4168s or 304.6kN (68,000lb thrust each) RollsRoyce Trent 768 or Trent 772 turbofans.

    Long range A330 choice of P&W PW-4164s or PW-4168s or RR Trent 768s or 772s or 324kN (73,000lb thrust each) PW-4173s.

    A340-200/300 - Four 138.8kN (31,200lb thrust each) CFM International CFM56-5C or 145kN (32,550lb thrust each) CFM56-5C3 turbofans.

    A340-500 - Four 236kN (53,000lb thrust each) Rolls-Royce Trent 553 turbofans

    A340-600 - Four 249kN (56,000lb thrust each) Rolls-Royce Trent 556 turbofans.
