Does one have to be 18 to purchase a DBA from the courthouse for business?

  2. I have never heard of purchasing a DBA from the courthouse and I have owned and operated my own companies for 35 years. The steps that I know of for sure are as follows. First you go to the city hall where your business will be based from and apply for a business license, usually under $100, next go to a bank of your choice and open a business checking account there they will tell you to file a fictitious name filing with a local newpaper if no one objects then you are granted your DBA. The bank and city hall will be able to advise you the legal age required. It may vary from state to state as might the DBA filing.

  3. You need to be of a legal age to do business because you will entering business / contractual agreements.  Check with your local Tax Assessor or Vital Statistics Office for the specifics for your area or the area that you want to do business in.
