Does or has anyone else tried Echinacea to prevent getting sick?

I take Echinacea and Goldenseal when I have a Cold and it works brilliant.

I find it to be partially effective. I combine echinacea, and some Chinese combinations you can get at a natural food store: gan mao ling, and yin chao. Together, no virus will survive. I don't ever get sick anymore. If I feel anything coming on, I take the above combination, and by the next day I'm back to normal. It's creepy effective.

I have a coworker that swears by it!!!!!

I have wanted to try it but I also have something that I swear by...because it's never failed, I haven't been able to TRY the Echinacea.  I take NOW Brand's 4X6 Acidophilus every day.  When I feel something coming on, I bump it up and I haven't been 'sick' in 3 years.  Before this...I was sick when a virus..etc. looked at me.

Absolutely! We have thousands of customers that have taken Echinacea to boost their immune system. One word of warning is that it shouldn't be used long-term because it's too powerful... it can actually build up your immune system so much that it will start to attack some of the good stuff in your system (like the beneficial bacteria that live in your intestinal tract, for example).

If you are just trying to prevent yourself from getting sick, I'd go for something safer to use long-term like a good antioxidant complex, Colostrum, Mushrooms (Reishi, Maitake, Shiitake, etc), or Beta Glucans to start with. Good luck!

Every time I start to feel something is trying to get me (usually starts with a sore throat) I take 2 Ecchinacea right away, then at least 2 more times throughout the day. By the next day I'm completely fine. It has worked for me for years. I can't remember the last time I was sick!
