Does our UK-born, American daughter need a UK visa for her US passport?

My husband and I are US citizens living in the UK (he on a student visa, me on a student dependant visa). I recently gave birth to a little girl while in the UK, and we have gotten her US passport. We'll be travelling outside of the UK next month - does she need a visa (e.g., a student dependant visa) to re-enter the UK? If so, how do I go about applying for one? Everything I find seems to be geared for people living in the US, not already domiciled in the UK.

  1. You should immediately contact BIA, and have her passport stamped before you leave.

This procedure shouldnt take long since you have her British Birth certificate (proof she was born in UK) so her visa can be applied within UK.
